Spark - Course Feedback System
1. Basic Information about the Service
On the Spark homepage in MyDiak, you will see a summary of the main stages of the feedback process for the courses you are enrolled in, provided your enrollment is approved and active, and where there is an active feedback function. The system guides you step by step on which feedback forms and additional information are available and when.
The most important steps for the student are:
- Responding to the feedback form (see section 2.2 of the instructions)
- Reading additional information:
- a. Summary report of responses (see section 3.1 of the instructions)
- b. Teacher's response to the feedback (see section 3.2 of the instructions).
The Spark feedback service is integrated into MyDiak. You can find it in MyDiak on the student dashboard:
- From the top bar -> Spark - Course Feedback
- a. A link that takes you to the feedback service homepage
- Further down the homepage -> View all course feedback
- a. A list of feedback surveys that are nearing their response deadline
- b. A link that takes you to the feedback survey form
You can also use the Spark feedback service on mobile devices.

The Spark feedback service operates in the language you are using for MyDiak. You can change the language selection in MyDiak.
For browsers, it is recommended to use Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Edge - older versions of Internet Explorer, for example, do not work.
Always refer to this user guide first. If the feedback service does not work as instructed, try the following steps:
- Log out of the service, close the browser, and
- Log back into the Spark service.
- Also, try using a different browser.
If this does not help, report the error to your university's support system at [email protected].
2 Providing feedback
On the Spark homepage, you will see a summary of the courses for which your enrollment is approved and active, and which have an active feedback survey. Each row displays the course name and code, as well as the name and type of the feedback form (e.g., Final Feedback).
The summary on the homepage shows the status of the feedback form for each course. The status can be either:
- Active (blue speech bubble) + GIVE FEEDBACK
- a. Response period is ongoing, and the number of days left to complete the feedback form
- Feedback report available (green bars) + VIEW REPORT
- a. Response period has ended, you can open the summary report with the average of all responses
- Response to feedback available (green speech bubbles) + VIEW REPORT
- a. Response period has ended, and the teacher has provided a response to the feedback, you can open the summary report and read the teacher’s response

Figure 2: Feedback Service Homepage and Course Summary
If you did not provide feedback during the response period, please note that:
- The survey will be removed from the homepage list immediately after the response period ends.
- You will not see the summary of responses from other students.
- You will not see any possible response from the teacher to the feedback given.
If you do not see any surveys for a course on the homepage view, it means that:
- There are no active surveys available for you to respond to, and
- There are no responded surveys for which you can view a summary report or teacher's response.
Also, please note the exception:
- If you have been removed from the course after the feedback form opens, you will no longer have the option to provide feedback.
You can open an individual active feedback form by clicking the "GIVE FEEDBACK" button at the end of the course row on the homepage. On the new page, you will see the name and code of the selected course, the teachers involved, and the feedback form name (e.g., Final Feedback). You will also see how many days are left to respond - the form closes at 23:59 on the last day of the response period.

Figure 3: Course Feedback Survey
By clicking the "Show Course Details" button, you can view additional information about the course such as learning objectives. Viewing this information does not interrupt the feedback submission process.
Feedback submission is always anonymous (unless you choose to disclose your name or additional details in an open response). Teachers can view the feedback once there are more than five responses. Diak cannot link responses to any student's identity. If feedback received through the system is threatening, inappropriate, discriminatory, or considered harassment, Diak is obligated to identify the sender's identity and take action. The technical administrator of the system (Studyo Oy) has the capability, upon request from Diak, to identify the respondent's identity in such cases.
The questions on the feedback form are displayed in the language defined as the language of instruction for the course. If the course has multiple languages of instruction, you will be asked to select the language in which you wish to respond before completing the survey.
You can preview the questions beforehand and choose not to respond to the survey. If you wish to submit your responses, remember to click "SAVE" to send your answers. Upon successful submission, you will see a thank you page.
NOTE: There is a time limit on your login session, meaning it will expire if you remain inactive on the page for an extended period. The form does not have an auto-save feature, so if feedback is not submitted, drafted responses will be lost, and you will need to start over.
You can submit feedback only once for each form, and you cannot edit your responses after saving them.
The course feedback system sends reminders:
- Notification when the survey opens
- Reminder during the response period
- Message when the reporting is completed.
3 Feedback Summaries
Once the response period has ended, all students who have provided final feedback will automatically have the option to view the summary report. To open the summary report, go to the homepage, click on the course row, and select "VIEW REPORT" button. The homepage also indicates how long the summary report will be available for students who have responded.
The report includes averages of all numerical ratings given (if there are more than five responses). Open-ended responses are not included in the summary report.
You can view the number of responses and the response rate on the report. Note the different tabs such as "Response Counts" and "Averages".
Please note that if you did not provide feedback during the response period, you will not see the summary of responses from other students, nor will you see any possible response from the teacher to the feedback received.
Once the response period has ended, all students who have provided final feedback will automatically have the option to view the summary report. Following this, the teachers of the respective course have one month to potentially write a response to the feedback.
If teachers write and publish a response, you will see on the homepage, next to the respective course, the text "Report and response to feedback available". The homepage also indicates how long the response to feedback will be available.
Click the "VIEW REPORT" button. The response written by the teacher(s) to the feedback will be immediately visible at the beginning of the page.
Please note that if you did not provide feedback during the response period, you will not see the summary of responses from other students, nor will you see any possible response from the teacher(s) to the feedback received.
