The default language of Moodle is Finnish. However, the browser settings may affect this - if you are using your web browser in English, the language in Moodle will automatically switch into English. This will not alter the underlying default language.

Language can be changed permanently. This is recommended, because if your default language remains Finnish in Moodle, the messages from Moodle will be sent in Finnish. If you change the language permanently into English, the system messages will be sent in English. 

Change the language by navigating to your profile page. The profile page can be found on the My courses-page by clicking on the link Preferences (below your name). 

Then choose Preferred language.

Choose English from the drop-down menu.

Finally, click Save changes. The language of the system is now changed for you and the incoming messages will be sent in the chosen language.
